What do you think is the most difficult thing in Japanese for learners?

  currently: numbers change as counters change, too confusing later: onomatopoeia, the Japanese seem to be obsessed with sound words advanced stage: cultural context that requires 'reading between the lines', the level of implicit nuance that's similar to written French from France (not Canada, Canadian French is just English with a French skin lmao)

  I guess it's the structure: In Russian you don't just speak "a subject" that subject has GENDER (Masculine/Neutral/Feminine) plural and singular. I get confused learning Japanese with Russian sometimes because japanese has this very heavy structure, on how a subject is spoken just slightly similar to Russian but GERMAN just bombs the whole idea and says "WHERE IS THE VERB PLACEMENT" or "I DONT CARE ABOUT HOW YOU PLACE THE SINGULAR OBJECT OR PLURAL, YOU MISSED THE CONNECTOR". Yep, crazy day huh?

  For me it was sentence structure but I'm sure once I fully learn it there will be more difficulties. I don't think kanji is particularly difficult, more tedious.
