  If the english dub is fine then I prefer dub because I like to do other stuff while watching. Unfortunately the english dubs for anime always sound really goofy

  Subbed First of all, Japanese listening practice, even if I'm not at a level where it's hardly effective Second... I honestly prefer reading over listening, so if I'm watching something on the TV with someone, even if it's in English, I'll ask for subtitles because I have a hard time hearing it

  When it comes to watching anime? Subs all the way, it's a no-brainer even before you learn the language. However, if the dub language happens to be one that doesn't really deal with anime (or worse still, all media) much, I'll take both.   both. modern dubs r getting better and better… and I do prefer not having to read. but one of the motivations for learning Japan is to be able to watch anime w/o having to rely on dubs of dubious accuracy made by activists with a political agenda

  Always subbed, never dubbed for me, regardless of what language it was originally made in. Although I would probably make an exception for the anime I watched in french on TV as a kid. Even though those were dubbed, it would be too weird without the voices I got used to.

  In Japan, I don't need either when I watch animes. アメリカ軍基地から漏れてくる電波で映っていたアメリカの放送はガッツリ英語でしたが、字幕も吹き替えもなかったので雰囲気で見てましたね。

  Dub is easier for me with my dyslexia but the voice acting is usually trash and I don’t get exposure to Japanese watching that way so I usually just stick to the sub and rewind a bunch so I can finish reading the subtitles.
