CPR = CardioPulmonary Resuscitation. CPRとは脳への酸素供給維持である。 脳自体には酸素を蓄える能力がなく、呼吸が止まってから4～6分で低酸素による不可逆的な状態に陥る。そのため一刻も早く脳に酸素を送る必要がある。
